Tip to Connect To Your Horse From Your Heart.

Connection

To connect with heart to something or someone in our life, we must get out of our head. That is right – we must shut down the voice inside our head and silence our mind to hear our heart. It is learning to connect to another from our place of feeling, not thinking forward.

We can talk ourselves in or out of anything if we give our mind long enough. But what if we changed our compass from the mind talk and focused on the silent feelings that lead us from our heart.

Take the first Step

Find a quiet, comfortable place to stand or sit and be comfortable. Make sure it is quiet so you can stay focused. You don’t want to be interrupted so you can take the time that is needed. Take a couple deep breaths and relax for a moment.

Now you will start with your baseline body scan. This will show you where you are right now in your body. It would be like your body neutral as well. This is just where you are and what your body feels today. It is very important that every time you use this exercise you start with the baseline or neutral scan to know what is you and where you are right now.

Close your eyes and start at the top of your head, let your attention slowly move down your eyes, nose, mouth, neck, chest, stomach, pelvis, thighs, knee, shin, ankle, feet and toes.

Take a moment in each spot as you scan down, just to notice if anything really calls out to you. Scan back up through your calf, hamstrings, glutes, lower back, back, shoulders, down your arms to your fingers, back up the back of your neck, head and see if anything calls out loudly to you. If you do notice anything make sure to just make a quick note of what you felt, such as my knee is a little achy today.

Learn How Your Body Communicates

Now think of an event where you were not happy, remember how that feeling felt. Feel in your body and relive that moment. Now do another body scan while holding that memory, thoughts and feeling that went with it. Notice where in your body you noticed the negative feelings or emotions.

What called out to you? For example, I felt like I was suffocating and it was hard to breathe.

Take a moment to walk, jump, move around and release all that you were just thinking about to regain back to your neutral feeling.

Now think of a happy, joyous moment in your life. Relive that moment and feel those emotions that went with it. Close your eyes and start at the top of your head, let your attention slowly move down your eyes, nose, mouth, neck, chest, stomach, pelvis, thighs, knee, shin, ankle, feet and toes.

Scan back up through your calf, hamstrings, lower back, back, shoulders, down your arms to your fingers, back up the back of your neck, head and see if anything calls out loudly to you. Where do you hold joy and happiness in your body? For me I feel it in my feet and toes. I associate it to the joy of moving forward, anticipation of something great.

Your own Guidance

Now you know where your body reacts to negative feelings and positive happy feelings. Now notice every time you are trying to make a choice or move through something, what part of your body responds. You can even ask the question and give choices. Your body will naturally respond to what the best feeling choice is. This always reminds me of being in school and they said go with your initial response not over think it. Here is the grown up answer to that very thought!!!
