Families are the compass that guide us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter.
– Brad Henry
Today I am thankful for family. I am thankful for both the close family I am blessed to have, as well as the extended family that helps make up life. Family plays such an important part of our journey here and allows us the companionship and love of others. Family helps us feel loved, safe and belonging.
Not all families are made up of the traditional way of thinking what family is, family is, the people who surround us with love and unconditional acceptance, love and connection.
A family is the feeling we get when we are surrounded and instilled with love.
A family can be made up so many different groups of people who all come together for a commonality that bonds them. I have family in my relatives, my barn family, my horse family, my close friends, and I am thankful for each one of those families. For in the safety, acceptance and love of a family we can grow and expand at an unbelievable rate. We reach heights and goals we never thought possible if we walked the path alone.
My horses are my family as well. They teach me about unconditional love, healthy relationships, and offer me a safe place to go to whenever I need them. I have always felt so close, connected and the ability to let all my walls down to be my authentic self when I am with my horses. They are who I talk to about my deepest feelings, go to for comfort when things are hard, and know they are always there to give offer what ever it is I need in the moment.
For all families today, and for all aspect that we find our families I am thankful.
